Waiting for the Sun....

My son Jon and I went camping this summer, just before school started actually. Anyway, we went to Lake of the Woods with some of my artistically gifted friends. It was a wonderful time, a much needed break from the pressures of everyday life. Jon and I were walking along the lake-side one morning, looking for a place for me to set up my paints. I had a major hankering to paint some of the scenery, I don't have the chance to do that very often, so we reached a place that I thought was particularly beautiful. I set up my wonderful camp-table (thank you Meagan!) and started sketching. Jon was a little bored and went and sat on a dead tree nearby. I looked over, and it took my breath away, it was so perfectly him, so wonderfully sweet, my boy sitting on the dead tree overlooking the lake. I began sketching him instantly, eventually it became this lovely painting. When I was trying to name it, Jon said we should name it 'waiting for the sun', when I asked him why, he said that that was what he was doing at the time. I thought that was the best possible name for it, and so it is. This is for my marvelous son, God's greatest gift to me in this life, Jon. Thank you kiddo for holding still for me and letting me stare at you for hours! I love you more than I can say.

I don't know why you're thanking me for the camp table though....did I give you a camp table? I totally don't remember!
